More than 287,000 active Covid-19 cases across the continent after 16.6 million tests

As of October 31, confirmed cases of Covid-19 from 55 African countries reached 1,785,483. The reported deaths in Africa reached 42,853 and recovered 455,115. 287,513 cases are currently active and 16,796,546 tests were performed.
South Africa has the most reported cases – 725 452, with deaths numbering 19 276. Other countries most affected include Morocco (219,084), Egypt (107,555), Ethiopia (96,169), Nigeria (62,853) and Libya (6,1195).

The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well as national and regional public health departments.
