Johannesburg – A TECHNOLOGY application that makes buying shares safe, easy and fun, as well as the first step in a user’s investment journey, is South Africa’s best app of the year.
EasyEquities, which takes away the idea that it is difficult and expensive to invest, is the biggest winner of the MTN Business App of the Year awards.
At the ninth awards, which were held virtually for the first time on Thursday night, the overall winner was announced, while a series of unique and useful applications occupy the top positions in 15 categories.
EasyEquities, which also placed first in the category of best consumer solution, walked away with the overall grand prize of an international trip to a technological destination, worth R200 000 (US12 210).
Kholo Magagane, Head of Marketing at MTN SA Business, congratulated the overall winner.
“If 2020 has shown us anything, it is that we need to keep track of our finances – and take it even a step further – by finding ways to help us build prosperity,” Magagane said.
The CEO has said since its inception that the MTN Business App of the Year awards have remained a highlight on the annual ICT calendar, unleashing apps that are now household names and provide services to millions of South Africans.
“They (award) have had a positive impact on virtually every aspect of life, from financial services to healthcare and education.”
