Mo Ibrahim unhappy with tensions in African elections

Dar es Salaam – The Mo Ibrahim Foundation, which supports good governance and extraordinary leadership on the African continent, is unhappy with the tensions in the mainland election.

The board of the foundation, chaired by the founder of the Sudanese-born British billionaire businessman Mohammed Ibrahim (Mo Ibrahim), said in a statement on October 30 that violence against peaceful protesters or the detention of political opponents was disturbing.

He called on parties to resolve their differences through constructive and open dialogue.

“There have been far too many reports of violence against peaceful protesters or the detention of political opponents ….. We call on all parties to respect the rights and dignity of all citizens and resolve their differences through a constructive and open dialogue, “the MO said. Ibrahim Foundation says.

According to the statement, Africa’s democratic gains over the past two decades have been rolled back over too many countries.

“This is unacceptable,” said the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.

It is the view of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation that although the world was engaged in the struggle to control the Covid-19 pandemic, some political leaders felt that they could act with impunity and trample on the rights of their fellow citizens.

“Election processes must be clarified and agreed before the election, and where disputes arise, they must not be settled in the courts,” the statement said.
