Angola goes down to DR Congo

Angola finished bottom of their qualifying group for the Africa Cup of Nations and remained unbeaten against the neighbors of the Democratic Republic of Congo after losing 1-0 in Luanda on Tuesday.

The result leaves Palancas Negras only at one point in Group D and with only a small mathematical chance of qualifying for the 2022 final in Cameroon.

Angola came back after a 63rd minute from Neeskens Kebano. The Fulham midfielder struck him through Angola midfield before picking a powerful long-range shot that decided the match.

The result is a serious blow for Angola, who last week won their first point of the campaign against the Leopards in Kinshasa.

Palancas Negras then attacked in the closing stages of the match, but could not break through and get a late equalizer.

Angola previously lost at home to the Gambia and Gabon in their first group matches in November 2019.
