Musona inspires Zimbabwe fightback

Zimbabwe fought back on Monday to take down Algeria and keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the next Africa Cup of Nations final.

The 2-2 draw in Harare ensured that Algeria are a top two place in Group H, and therefore qualifying, while Zimbabwe remain second in the group on five points. Botswana upset Zambia 1-0 in the other group match to move to third on four points and leave the 2012 African champion last in the group.

Algeria dropped their first points of the campaign, despite the start of Andy Delort and Riyad Mahrez, who passed within four minutes of each other.

Delort received a header due to the bad mark of the home defense, while Mahrez turned the defense around by a few turns before hitting home.

Knowledge Musona pulls back a goal just before half-time with a curling free-kick that hit an earlier free-kick against the crossbar.

Zimbabwe equalized through substitute Prince Dube with eight minutes left after finishing on the back post.

Zimbabwe must now win at least one of their last two matches against neighbors Botswana and Zambia.
