Tunis/Tunisia — A regional general strike will be observed on May 20 in Sousse at the call of the regional labour union.
This decision was made at the end of a regional council meeting held Sunday with attendance of Deputy Secretary General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (French: UGTT) Sami Tahri.
The strike aims to denounce an ongoing marginalisation policy and decry a downturn in business as many enterprises were shut down and employees laid off, SG of the labour union’s regional chapter Kacem Zemi told TAP.
Other sectors, such as health and education, are also facing difficulties over inadequate infrastructure and staffing.
