Africa: Covid-19 Death Toll Nears 215,000 Across the Continent

Cape Town — As of October 15, confirmed cases of Covid-19 from 55 African countries reached  8,415,289 while over 102,340,806 vaccinations have been administered across the continent.

Reported deaths in Africa reached  214,804 and  7,751,646 people have recovered. South Africa has the most reported cases  2,914,827 and  88,506 people died. Other most-affected countries are Morocco ( 941,009 ), Tunisia (  710,322 ), Ethiopia ( 357,550 ), Libya ( 348,647 ), Egypt ( 315,842 ) and Kenya ( 251,669 ).

The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well as national and regional public health departments.
