Tunisia: Working to Mobilise Tunisian Competences Abroad – FIBA

Tunis/Tunisia — The Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) has just launched a program “Uptunisia by Fipa” to mobilise Tunisian competences abroad, announced its Director General Abdelbasset Ghanmi.

Addressing a panel held on the fringes of the trade fair: “Tunisian Diaspora meets local firms” organised on November 11, he said that this program will be the operational solution to further consolidate Tunisia’s ties with its competences abroad in matters of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Launched in March 2021, this program is part of the ProGreS Migration Tunisia project. It is co-financed by the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by GIZ Tunisia.

The goal is to raise awareness among Tunisian competences abroad that investment in Tunisia offers competitive advantages on the one hand and to boost foreign investment by relying on the Tunisian Diaspora on the other.

He considered that the Tunisian competences abroad have always been of particular interest to FIPA-Tunisia through the organisation of joint promotional actions, the establishment of contacts with business networks in Tunisia and the granting of a “Diaspora Award” as a token of recognition.

Ghanmi highlighted the major problems encountered in the process of creating businesses, namely the problem of access to information and data and the administrative burden.

FIPA-Tunisia participated in the fair with a virtual stand to showcase the Agency’s services and the opportunities offered for investment in Tunisia.

The trade fair “Tunisian Diaspora meets local firms” is organised by GIZ in collaboration with the German-Tunisian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK).
